WARNING: Do not attempt to read any further if your intention is to retain your blissful memories of Fairy Tales...The Demythification Series promises to change your perspective of Fairy Tales such that you'll never view them in the same light ever again.
I happened upon the Little Red Riding Hood story just the other day and discovered over wiki that the fairy tale as we know it (as told by the Grimm brothers) actually had darker cousins preluding the tamed version of today.
So I was thinking :"Why not explore the realm of Fairy Tales once again? This time round, looking at the story in detail and examining the various aspects and hidden connotations of the story". Surprisingly, close inspection of the story reviewed numerous illogical, even sinister implications!!!
As such, I've decided to start on this series to further dissect the various Fairy Tale stories but it shall be interspersed over a period of time rather than in one large dosage.
Deeper introspection and analysis of our culture has led to even greater perspectives on how our minds have been exposed to various elements which have in turn allowed us to perceive things from a different angle...resulting in my formulation of 2 resulting explanations....
Pleasant Explanation - The gift of education and exposure to various cultures and behaviours has shaped our minds and allowed us to mature intellectually.
Nasty Explanation - The same exposure and experiences have corrupted our minds over the years and allowed us to view things from a vastly different (and darker) perspective as our innocent selves decades back.
The Conclusion:
For Christians, it is telling in the book of Genesis, the Holy Bible, that when Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the Tree of Good and Evil in the centre of the Garden of Eden, innocence was forever lost. Both the above explanations are equally valid, and serve to reinforce the fact the the Bible was not lying. For Man has gained both good and evil knowledge.
Christ is real.
Believe it.
